FOOL EXPRESSION
Discover the richness that already lives in you
A gentle embodied journey of awareness, relationship and expression, inviting you to discover the many parts of yourself and become increasingly at home within them.
What is Fool Expression?
We all carry an Inner Village; a living community of different qualities, emotions, instincts, longings, protective strategies and creative possibilities that together shape how we experience ourselves, our relationships and the world around us.
Some of these villagers have become trusted companions, while others have quietly slipped into the background through habit, fear, shame or simply because life has asked us to rely on only a few ways of being.
Fool Expression is an embodied path of becoming more familiar with this Inner Village.
Together we cultivate the capacity to notice what is alive, to stay with an experience long enough for it to reveal more of itself, and to discover that every part of us carries its own intelligence, vitality and potential.
As our relationship with this inner landscape deepens, resources become easier to recognise, different experiences feel less frightening to meet, and more of who we are gradually becomes available.
Rather than trying to become someone different, the work invites us to recover the richness that is already here.
As more of the Inner Village comes alive, we discover greater freedom in how we relate, create and move through life.
How does the journey unfold?
Every journey begins with becoming familiar.
Before we can move freely through the many parts of ourselves, it helps to learn how to notice what is already here, how our attention shapes our experience, and how simply giving something a little more presence allows it to reveal unexpected depth.
From there we gradually discover that our Inner Village is far richer than we first imagined. Experiences that once felt confusing begin to make more sense, resources become easier to cultivate, and expression starts to arise more naturally as a consequence of feeling increasingly at home within ourselves.
Over time, what begins as awareness slowly becomes relationship, relationship becomes embodiment. Embodiment opens into expression, and expression gradually becomes something we can bring into our everyday lives with greater freedom, creativity and ease
What does this make possible?
As we become more familiar with our Inner Village, we begin to recognise the different ways we have learnt to protect ourselves, the resources that have quietly accompanied us all along, and the qualities that have been waiting for the right conditions to emerge.
There is often a growing sense of spaciousness around experience. Rather than immediately becoming identified with an emotion, a reaction or a familiar pattern, we begin discovering that we can relate to it with curiosity. This simple shift opens the possibility of responding with greater freedom, rather than repeating the same ways of being simply because they have become familiar.
Many people notice that they become more compassionate towards themselves, more able to stay present in challenging moments, and more connected with the quieter qualities that bring meaning, vitality and joy. Others discover new confidence, creativity or tenderness, not because these qualities were missing, but because they finally have enough space to be expressed.
Little by little, the Inner Village becomes less like an unknown landscape and more like a community of inner companions that can support us in our relationships, our work and the way we meet life.
The journey
Fool Expression unfolds as a gradual deepening of our relationship with the Inner Village. Each level builds upon the previous one, inviting us into new ways of exploring ourselves, others and life.
Level 1 — Discover Your Inner Village
An introduction to the foundations of the work, where we begin learning how to recognise what is alive, cultivate awareness, discover inner resources and develop a more embodied relationship with ourselves.
Level 2 — Feast of Resources
A deeper exploration into the many qualities that nourish us. Together we learn how to recognise, embody and strengthen resources, discovering that they are not only places of comfort but living capacities that expand our repertoire of being.
Level 3 — Constellating the Inner Village
Bringing the Inner Village into relationship through embodied constellation, allowing different parts of ourselves to become visible and discovering new ways they can relate to one another.
Level 4 — Group Play
As our Inner Village becomes more familiar, expression naturally becomes more playful, creative and spontaneous. Here we explore what becomes possible when our inner worlds begin meeting and playing together.
Level 5 — Relating Play
The journey gradually opens into relationship itself. The many parts of ourselves become available in dialogue with others, allowing for greater authenticity, creativity and responsiveness in the way we live and connect.
The practice
The work draws together presence, somatic awareness, energetics, relational exploration, movement, voice, embodied practice and aspects of theatre.
Sometimes we spend time quietly noticing what is already present. At other times we move, speak, create, witness one another or discover unexpected resources through nature and play. Every practice is an invitation to become a little more fluent with the language of your own Inner Village.
Everyone arrives differently; some people naturally enter through sensation, others through emotion, thoughs, movement, imagination or relationship. There is no correct way of exploring. Part of the practice is discovering your own ways inside of yourself and your own rhythm and learning to trust that the Inner Village reveals itself differently for each person.
Why the Fool?
People often ask why this work is called Fool Expression. Across many traditions, the Fool represents the one who is willing to step into the unknown with curiosity rather than certainty. Rather than trying to control experience or already knowing who they are, the Fool remains open to discovering something new.
In this work, the Fool is not a character we perform. It is a quality of awareness and skills that gradually grows as we become more familiar with ourselves. The more at home we become in our Inner Village, the easier it becomes to meet life with openness, flexibility and playfulness, allowing expression to emerge from a place that feels genuine rather than performed.
The Many Voices That Facilitate
When people describe my facilitation, they often mention very different qualities.
Grounded presence, safety, playfulness, challenge, wisdom.
Over the years, Voice Dialogue has invited me to become familiar with many different aspects of myself.
When I facilitate now, it rarely feels like a single “me” holding the space. It feels more like an Inner Village working together in service of the group.
Here are some reflections from participants:
Why explore together?
Although much of this journey is deeply personal, something unique happens when we explore in community.
One person’s courage often awakens another person’s curiosity. Someone else’s forgotten resource reminds us of something we had lost contact with ourselves. Gradually the group becomes a place where we can experiment, witness one another and discover that many of the experiences we imagined we carried alone are simply part of being human.
Again and again I find myself touched by the depth of connection, creativity and mutual support that emerges when people gather in this way. The Inner Village within each person is nourished by the village that forms around us.
Lineage
Fool Expression has grown over 12 years through my own exploration of embodiment, parts work and community practice.
It is deeply influenced by Franki Anderson’s Fool’s Work, the Voice Dialogue model developed by Hal and Sidra Stone, together with mindfulness, authentic movement, trauma-informed practice, theatre and a wide range of embodied approaches to human development.
Over time these different streams have gradually woven together into an approach that is uniquely my own, centred around the metaphor of the Inner Village and the cultivation of awareness, relationship and embodied fluency with the many ways of being alive within us.
A few practical notes
To preserve the safety and integrity of the group, I reserve the right to continue working with participants whom I feel able to support within this setting.

What people say
“I spent last weekend on my first Fool Expression & I had an absolute ball! Christie holds the space with such calm, grounded & gentle strength. I’m glad I did a whole weekend as it took me till Sunday to really feel the potent potential of this work. As I got more accustomed to the language and began to let it work within me, I began to find a new way of exploring myself in the depths I am used to. What I liked about it, is that it welcomes you wherever you are. I thoroughly recommend working with Christie if you get the opportunity!”
“The Fool Expression workshop was a chance to listen to parts of me I had buried for a long time and access both difficult and joyous emotions that I had neglected. Christie is a patient and kind facilitator, whose presence soothes the inquietudes of the group from the outset of the retreat. I left the workshop feeling more confident in showing my vulnerable sides and with tools that I could apply to my career, relationships and spirituality. I also recommend Christie’s method of play, for those who may have experimented with meditation and are seeking movement to
What People Take Away
There is no single outcome from Fool Expression.
Each person discovers different parts of their Inner Village, different resources and different edges to explore. Yet certain themes return again and again: greater awareness, deeper connection, more freedom to express themselves, and practical ways of bringing these discoveries into everyday life.
Here are some reflections from people who have taken that journey.

Continuing the journey
Fool Expression is not a single workshop but an unfolding journey.
Some people begin with a weekend introduction and continue gradually through the five levels of the Player’s Track. Others weave in shorter retreats, themed immersions or one-to-one Voice Dialogue sessions as different aspects of their Inner Village begin calling for attention.
There isn’t a single way through the work. The tracks simply offer different pathways into the same landscape, allowing you to follow what feels most alive while remaining connected to the wider journey.
