A two-day Introduction to Fool Expression
Every one of us carries an Inner Village.
A living community of different voices, fears, protectors, longings, qualities and resources.
Sometimes one part of us wants change while another pulls back. One part wants closeness while another becomes anxious or disappears. We may find ourselves overthinking, doubting ourselves, putting other people first, feeling overwhelmed, or repeating patterns we understand but still seem to live inside.
Discover Your Inner Village is an invitation to become more familiar with this inner landscape, and to learn practical ways of exploring and navigating it.
Rather than asking only, ‘What is wrong with me?’ or ‘Why can’t I just change?’, we begin to ask:
Who is here?
What happens in my body when this part becomes active?
What is it trying to take care of?
Who else becomes harder to hear?
And what other qualities or resources might also be available?
The weekend is rooted in Voice Dialogue and the Psychology of Selves, alongside somatic awareness, embodied exploration, constellation, energetic awareness, witnessing and group experience.
The intention is not to get rid of difficult parts or create a perfectly harmonious Inner Village.
It is to develop greater clarity, flexibility and fluency in how we relate to what is happening inside us.
You do not need to be particularly expressive, confident or experienced in this kind of work. We begin with what is here.
A living community of different voices, qualities, longings, fears, protectors and forgotten possibilities. Some of these parts feel familiar and easy to access. Others have been hidden, silenced or are simply waiting for the right conditions to emerge.
Fool Expression is an invitation to begin meeting this inner community through awareness, embodiement, movement, presence and authentic expression.
This Level 1 weekend is the beginning of that journey. It is designed for anyone who is curious to know themselves more deeply—not by analysing themselves, but by experiencing themselves.
During this Weekend we will explore:
- Slowing down, arriving in the body and becoming more aware of what we are experiencing, what our bodies need, and the different ways we can tend to those needs.
- Recognising the different parts of our Inner Village, their feelings, desires, perspectives and the roles they play in our lives.
- Learning to give different parts a voice and an embodied place, stepping into their experience and discovering how to step back out without rejecting them.
- Developing a more centred place from which we can listen to, acknowledge and relate to our different parts, rather than being completely identified with one of them.
- Excavating and constellating inner resources, discovering qualities and capacities that may be less familiar or available, and exploring how they can support us.
- Exploring what happens when different parts want conflicting things, and how giving them space to be heard can bring greater understanding and clarity.
- Learning the foundations of guiding one another through simple parts explorations, developing our capacity to listen, witness and offer feedback that supports another person’s discoveries without interpreting their experience for them.
- As these foundations become more familiar, allowing more freedom for spontaneous expression, imagination, movement and play.
The workshop offers a supportive structure for exploring, while leaving room for each person’s own pace, curiosity and discoveries.
What people have said:
“The Inner Village and Voice Dialogue give structure to the chaos of our psyches. It feels like a beautiful walkway over a quagmire, with safe access points into the depths and places to dance and lie back in the sunshine.”
Caz Perry, Relationship and Psychosexual Therapist
“The weekend took me on an unexpected journey in which I discovered selves that had been hidden for longer than I can remember. Christie held the space beautifully, with a light touch, allowing me to relax and explore at my own pace.”
Alan Taylor, Guitar Teacher
“I felt fully received, and appreciated in what I shared. There was no pressure to be prepared, perform well, or know where the experience was going. Christie held us with a light touch, and there was space to drop in at our own pace and integrate what was happening.”
RH, Workshop Facilitator
“Every time I met with the unknown I was surprised and had a great sense of relief. What had felt like a frightening dark abyss began to reveal many different shades and hues. Going through the process felt like a mirror for my life.”

More about Discover Your Inner Village
Why discover your Inner Village?
When a part of us feels anxious, or when a critical or protective part becomes very strong, it can easily feel like the whole of who we are.
As we learn to recognise these different parts and develop a relationship with them, we may begin to discover more space around our experiences and a different way of navigating them.
For example, what feels like confusion may involve several parts wanting different things at once. We might recognise one part that knows what it wants, while another feels frightened of what could happen if we follow that desire.
And sometimes, when different parts want different things, other parts come in to manage the tension, perhaps through overthinking, trying to please everyone, withdrawing or searching for the perfect solution.
Suddenly, there can be a whole little village involved in what seemed like one simple decision!
What I find fascinating is that, as we begin to listen to these different voices, we may discover not only what they are concerned about, but also the qualities, intelligence and resources they carry.
Discovering our Inner Village doesn’t mean that conflicts, fears or uncomfortable feelings will disappear. Rather, we’re learning to recognise what’s happening, make space for different perspectives and develop a more conscious relationship with the many parts of ourselves.
How we will explore
The central foundation of the weekend is Voice Dialogue and the Psychology of Selves.
Voice Dialogue offers a way of recognising the different selves or parts within us, giving them space to express their perspectives, and gradually developing a more conscious relationship with them.
We begin by arriving in our bodies, noticing what is present and tending to our immediate needs.
From there, we learn to recognise different parts, give them an embodied place and a voice, and discover what happens when we allow them to express themselves.
One of the essential foundations is learning both movements: stepping into the experience of a part, and stepping back out again.
This allows us to begin recognising the difference between being immersed in a part and relating to it from a more centred place.
We also explore how to excavate and constellate our inner resources, discovering supportive qualities, capacities and parts that may otherwise be overlooked.
As we become more familiar with these foundations, we’ll begin learning how to guide one another through simple explorations, listening with curiosity rather than trying to interpret, fix or direct someone else’s experience.
We’ll also explore what it means to witness one another, and how the feedback we offer can support someone’s exploration while respecting their own experience and discoveries.
And once the structure becomes more familiar, there is greater room for spontaneous exploration through voice, movement, imagination, expression and play.
The intention is to develop greater Inner Village fluency: recognising who is present, understanding the different voices within us, remembering that other qualities and resources are available, and discovering more flexibility in how we relate to them.
The scaffolding is not there to restrict our exploration, but to help us discover our own pathways.
Discovering our inner resources
Our Inner Village is not only made up of protective patterns, fears and conflicting desires.
It is also home to many qualities and capacities that we may not always recognise or have access to.
Perhaps there is a playful part, a courageous part, a deeply caring part, a creative part, or one that knows how to set boundaries.
Some of these qualities may feel familiar. Others might be waiting to be discovered.
During the workshop, we’ll explore ways of excavating these resources, giving them space to emerge through the body, voice, imagination and expression.
We’ll also learn how to constellate them within our Inner Village, making it easier to recognise and draw upon them when exploring other parts of ourselves.
Rather than only asking what is difficult or needs attention, we become curious about the richness of who we are.
Who is this weekend for?
This weekend is for anyone curious about exploring their inner world and discovering new ways of relating to the many different parts of themselves.
Perhaps you’ve noticed how you can feel confident and open in one situation, yet hesitant, self-conscious or overwhelmed in another. Or you may recognise familiar patterns in your relationships, find yourself pulled between conflicting desires, or simply feel curious about the richness and diversity of who you are.
You might already have experience of therapy, Voice Dialogue, personal development or embodied exploration, or this may be something entirely new.
We’ll be working with the body, voice, movement, imagination and guided exploration, with plenty of room for individual differences. You don’t need to be particularly expressive or confident in a group, and there’s no expectation to explore anything before you feel ready.
My intention is to offer a welcoming space where we can learn, experiment and discover together, developing practical ways of exploring our Inner Village that we can also bring into everyday life.
A foundation for exploring beyond the weekend
One of my intentions with Discover Your Inner Village is to offer a framework that you can gradually make your own.
Through practising how to recognise parts, give them space, find resources and return to a more centred position, we begin to develop ways of exploring our inner experiences beyond the workshop.
This might mean recognising different parts when facing a decision, becoming curious about a familiar reaction in a relationship, or finding ways to listen to ourselves when we feel pulled in different directions.
There is no expectation that we will understand or resolve everything in one weekend.
The invitation is to begin developing a relationship with our Inner Village that can continue growing and unfolding in everyday life.
